It’s definitely Autumn now! As thoughts turn to hibernation and mid-winter celebrations sewing starts to become more enticing.
The media is continuing to highlight the increase in the popularity of stitching. I came across a link to the Newsnight about a set of features in which ‘Mary Jane Baxter will be spending October making and mending her way from London to the Midlands, Yorkshire and Scotland to find out if the current vogue for make do and mend is more than a fad.’ I have missed the actual series – but the link is interesting: news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8283615.stm

Adults – Get Started With a Sewing Machine
A few places are still available for this Saturday’s class (24 October). Give me a call if you are interested.
Next course starts Thursday 4 November for 3 weeks.
New dates and courses to be announced soon.
Adults – One-to-One
Not able to come along to one of the scheduled classes? In response to many requests Sam will trial one-to-one classes in November. To get you started with your sewing machine and on your way to creating your dream projects. We will cover the basics from threading your machine, using its stitches and feet to planning and working on your own creation.
If you have yet to invest in a machine, Sam will bring along one of Stitch’s Janome machines – or we can work by hand. Not sure what project you will start with – how about Stitch-London’s Tote bag and Zip case?
Get in early and leave yourself time to create something for the Christmas season.
Cost is £30 per hour (minimum of two hours). If you wish Sam can bring a project including fabrics and threads at an extra materials cost.
Teens and Children 8-11 years
New term at Harrow Arts Centre starts on 7 November. Limited places are available.
